Technical Details:
An RPM file extension is an acronym for a Redhat Package Manager file, a file format used by Linux Operating Systems to install program applications. RPM files were originally developed for the Red Hat Linux system, but are now used commonly to install programs on Linux computers. RPM files contain the files to install, as well as information necessary to install, uninstall, query, verify, and update the application included in the file. They can be converted to other types of file formats, including the DEB file, by using the Alien program application in Debian operating systems. By using Alien, the following command: alien package_name .rpm , RPM files are converted to DEB files. There are two other types of files that use the same RPM file extension.
Supported applications:
Red Hat Package Manager , Alien
Developed by: Red Hat
